What is Umrah Badal?
Umrah Badal (also known as Proxy Umrah, Umrah by Proxy or Al-Niyaba) is an act of worship where you commission a trustworthy and qualified person to perform the rites of the minor pilgrimage in Makkah on behalf of another person.
It is valid only for:
- 🕊️ The Deceased: To expiate their sins and elevate their rank.
- 🏥 The Chronically Ill: Those suffering from a permanent physical incapacity preventing travel.
Is it consistent with the Sunnah?
"O Allah's Messenger! The obligation of Hajj enjoined by Allah on His devotees has become due on my father and he is old and weak, and he cannot sit firm on the Mount; may I perform Hajj on his behalf?"
The Prophet ﷺ replied: "Yes, you may perform Hajj on his behalf."
